ARTIST STATEMENT

“My paintings are more about feeling, not identifying a specific image. I go into each piece not knowing where the journey will end. It’s a journey into the unknown. The minute I start thinking too much, it can all go bad. The best actions are spontaneous, it’s like dancing within the painting and I lose track of time. I disregard all rules and allow myself to experience the intensity, to take the risk. I paint with passion and abbreviated images instead of capturing realism.

Every painting is a different journey where getting lost becomes the answer to which direction to take. I find the moment I’m lost is when I really discover the enjoyment of painting. With each painting, I begin as an explorer with a vision into the unknown. I make choices with shapes and colors, adding and subtracting and embracing mistakes. Thats when the discoveries are made and unique expressions happen.

Viewing my work is experiencing my process of getting lost, then digging out. For me experiencing a painting is not about recognizing the subject, it’s about a feeling; about being moved”.
